SPRING HILL — When the Ridgeport Homeowners Association this past summer told Bryce Martin to remove his beehive from the Spring Hill subdivision, it had the legal right.
That's the position of the Tennessee Attorney General's Office, which after four months recently issued its written opinion on the matter.
Martin, a 70-year-old apiarist, had been keeping a hive of bees for three years on the back deck of his house, mostly unbeknownst to his neighbors, and was asked in August by the Ridgeport Homeowners Association to remove the hive because it was against the 346-home subdivision's restrictive covenants.
