Specialty Contractors Needed for CSLB Industry Expert Program

SACRAMENTO — The Contractors State License Board (CSLB) is looking for licensees in specific classifications for its Industry Expert (IE) program. IEs provide a valuable service to CSLB by independently reviewing projects and submitting recommendations that help maintain the integrity of California's construction industry. More than 500 contractors now participate in the IE program around the state.
CSLB currently has a sufficient number of "B" General Building contractors serving in the IE program, but needs the following classifications to work with CSLB's various Investigative Centers:
- Fresno – C-20 Warm-Air Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning (HVAC); C-27 Landscaping; C-47 General Manufactured Housing
- Norwalk – C-6 Cabinet, Millwork &Finishing; C-10 Electrical; C-13 Fencing; C-15 Flooring; C-16 Fire Protection; C-17 Glazing; C-20 HVAC; C-35 Lathing and Plastering; C-46 Solar; C-47 General Manufactured Housing; C-53 Swimming Pool; C-54 Tile
- Sacramento – C-17Glazing; C-16 Fire Protection; C-23 Ornamental Metal; C-35 Lathing and Plastering; C-46 Solar; C-51 Structural Steel; C-53 Swimming Pool
- San Bernardino – C-9 Drywall; C-13 Fencing; C-16 Fire Protection; C-17 Glazing; C-35 Lathing and Plastering; C-36 Plumbing; C-39 Roofing; C-42 Sanitation Systems
- San Diego – C-16 Fire Protection; C-17 Glazing; C-33 Painting; C-35 Plastering; C-46 Solar; C-53 Swimming Pools
- San Francisco – C-27 Landscaping; C-47 General Manufactured Housing; C-53 Swimming Pool
- Valencia – C-20 HVAC; C-27 Landscaping; C-47 General Manufactured Housing
- West Covina – C-16 Fire Protection; C-17 Glazing
This 20-year-old program has been an effective peer review tool and an opportunity for CSLB-industry collaboration. IEs also are compensated for their time, depending on the service rendered.
To participate, you must have held a current contractor license for at least five years, free of licensing or disciplinary actions, and must be knowledgeable about modern, accepted trade practices in your field of expertise.
